展覧会について

　 NY在住気鋭のアーティストによる二年振りの個展。
　スライドプロジェクターによって映写された像をガイドに、動物や人間、人工物などの立体をつくり、同時にプロジェクターの光源を撮影時の照明とし、立体とプロジェクションされた映像を写真に収める。新作（カラープリント）約１０点を展示予定。

〈作家コメント〉
　形の形成にイメージがどのように関わるのかという問題に加え、近年、イメージとは何かということと、その源である光という要素に興味が出てきた。イメージの光源としての光／それを記録するカメラを制作に取り入れ、異なるメディア間を往復する事で、作品がイメージとして、また同時にものとして立ちあがるバランスを見てみたいと思った。

　Gallery Jin is pleased to present "Light Source", a showing of new photography-based work by Midori Harima. This exhibition will be her first show in two years in Japan. When creating the work she began by projecting an image using a slide-projector. She then built a three-dimensional sculpture to meet the projected image. The finished work is a photograph of the sculpture with the image projected on it (the projector being the only light source for the photographs). About ten color-digital prints of animals, artificial objects, natural scenes and people will be shown.

　Midori Harima was born in Japan and received her BA in printmaking from The Women’s University of Fine Art in Kanagawa, Japan.  She has exhibited her work in numerous galleries and museums in the U.S. and Japan, including the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the Kala Arts Institute, the Toyota Municipal Art Museum, Deitch Studios, the Kevin Bruk Gallery and others. Harima currently lives and works in New York.
